100 vinhos is a unique wine room, a place where you'll have the opportunity to blind-taste wines from a hand-picked selection of around 100 bottles from Portugal and around the world—from the classics to the fruits of labour of young avant-garde winemakers. Great news: you can purchase those you fall in love with and take them home with you!

My objective is to guide you through the world of wine during a personalised tasting session and help you understand why you like the wines you like (and not those you were told to like). I'll teach you how to enjoy this fascinating beverage like an expert, based on facts, science, sensory sensations, a casual chat and a bit of a game. Definitely away from the world of pretentious reviews in which a wine supposedly smells of a fresh cut garden hose or lemon curd spread over porous asphalt on a hot summer day.
ABOUT ME
Linguist by trade, in the past years, I have dedicated a vast chunk of my life to wine (and probably consumed thousands of bottles for research purposes ;-)). Over time, I realised wine drinkers, in general, know little about wine, but are afraid to ask questions. They believe that wine is an occult knowledge. It is not and I'm here to teach you how to enjoy wine without all the la-di-da nonsense!

I hold the international WSET level 3 (advanced) certification (Pass with Merit) and the prestigious title of French Wine Scholar (Pass with Honours). I've also completed the Spanish Sherry Academy Curso Avanzado de las DOP Vinos de Jerez y Manzanilla, and the Portuguese Fernando Ferramentas sommelier course, achieving one of the top results at the national level. I also am a member of the Portuguese Sommelier Association.
My name is Marek and I'm a WSET- and WSG-certified wine consultant and aficionado. I believe wine should be fun and it deserves to be treated as such, far from snobism and pretension.

1 / How is the experience different from wine tasting?
100 vinhos sessions are fully personalised and based on blind tasting. That is to say, you won't know anything about the wines used until the end of the experience. That way, you will be able to focus on the wine and understand your actual preferences better without being influenced by names, labels, regions or prices. Also, wine tastings tend to have a set flight of wines, while at 100 vinhos, all the wines will be selected on the fly, according to how our journey and your preferences unfold.
2 / How are the wines selected?
I have personally selected and know all the wines I work with. They encompass the most varied styles of wine from all over the world. Of course, personally, I like some of them better than others, because I have my preferences as much as the next man. But I can guarantee each and every one of the wines we'll try is of high quality as to ensure that the outcome of our experience will be as objective as possible.
3 / I don't like red wine. Can we work with whites only?
The aim of the experience is to allow you to review the convictions you have about wine. As the session unfolds, we will increasingly focus on the wines you like better, but I strongly suggest that you come with an open mind and try wines you think you won't enjoy. Worst case scenario, you'll better understand why that is and be equipped to make well-informed wine decisions in the future.
4 / Can I bring friends to the experience?
I'm more than open to preparing a tailored offer for groups of 3+ people. Please mind, however, the modality will differ from the core 100 vinhos experience, which is meant to be as personalised and intimate, as possible. Please reach out and I'll be happy to discuss how I can cater to your specific needs.
5 / How will I be able to put the knowledge gained over the session in practice?
You will receive a personalised 'prescription' with a summary of the wines you tried and all the relevant conclusions we will have arrived at, so that you can apply that knowledge in the future. In case you fall in love with any of the wines we'll use, they are also available for purchase :-)
